Air Ride
I wanted to bag my 70 Cutlass but i don't want to cut the frame to make the AIR RIDE Technologies system fit. Is there any other air options out there?
|
I thought Air Ride just came out with a kit that basically replaces your stock spring/shocks?

i have bagged 2 A-body's, the only "frame" modification needed is the addition of front shock mounts welded to the rails, i used sleave bags in the rear, fabbed the bag mounts so they sandwiched the spring mounts top/bottom. the fronts i used 2500# bags on the first and 2600# bags on the second, as the bigger bags lifts easier/rides better, on the front i made "cups" to fit into spring pockets, the top used a stud to attached through the factory shock mount to hold bag in place.
the nice part is, if you ever want to ditch the bags, the only thing that takes some time to "undo" is the shock mount..... and its nothin 10 mins with a grinder wont take care of. sorry no install pics.... i didnt think about it at the time. here is one of my air ride projects |
I agree with race-rodz we have done several air bag set-ups with no sutting required.......the front shock mounts is about the fab work required!

My Air Ride Shockwaves didn't require any cutting. They just bolted right up.

Good point I didn't even think of that! Shockwaves are the S**t |

wow... i didnt even think about shockwaves either..... that would be the way to go for a completely bolt on/removable air ride set up.... i dont think you can get the same overall travel that you can with bags..... but thats a small price to pay for a no fab install (other than drilling holes for airlines)

Sorry but the conversion work was done at Steve Cook Creations in OKC and we didn't take any photos. |
