69 Camaro convertible brace on Coupe
I'm in projecting stages on a 69 Camaro Z28 build. I'm looking to build a car that looks very stock. I was wondering if anyone have put the Convertible brace on the Coupe to stiffen the body up some without going for aftermarket subframe connectors. As I said above my goal is to build a car that looks very stock but is better in every way then a stock 69 z/28. Any comments are appreciated.

How bout using the convertible rocker assemblies?
They have 4 rockers, an inner an outter, and two more inbetween. |
I think the x-brace is designed to be used with all the additional convert floor bracing. I think most guys don't go this way because of exhaust clearance issues.
I would recommend the SFC route. There are some pretty good products out there now. Some are more visible than others. The DSEs are hardly visible, but quite a bit of work (but probably no more than welding all the convert bracing in). |
As Redfire states, you wouldn't be able to use it without the additional convertible bracing in the floor pan. You could buy those pieces and weld in but seems like the work/benefit factor wouldn't be worth it.
Go with the DSE SFC's and never look back. Very hard to spot unless you crawl underneath. |
When i say the Convertible brace I of course meant adding the brace that is welded to the floor.
