454 with 2 inch hood

Currently have a 454 in a 69 Camaro (actually 468) with a edel victor intake and 1050 carb. I have a 4 inch hood with about a 4 inch filter on the carb. Does anyone have a simialr set up with a smaller air filter and is not fouling plugs? I don't really like the look of the 4 inch hood and I want to put a 2 inch hood. There isn't a spacer or anything.

Thanks,
Gopher

while I'm not sure what kind of car you have, I know that on my camaro I have the same problem. big block, victor jr. and I have to have a 4" cowl too. I have seen some people mill the top of the intakes down but there is only so much meat there. You could always use a drop base but that only gains a little too. sometimes every bit helps though

Thanks, I did edit the thread. Makes it easier if you have the car listed doesn't it.

i am working on a 68 with a 496 dart single plane intake, 3 inch filter with filter top, does not hurt power and runs very very strong. using factory bb frame mounts

I was wondering the samething I have a Gen VI 502 with an Edelbrock victor jr 454-R intake without a filter yet on my 68' Camaro. There is no way I will run a 4" hood, I will sell the dang motor before I run a 4" hood. What should my plan of attack be?

We have a 1969 Camaro with a 454 and a huge fuel injection system from GM on it and it clears the 2-inch cowl hood, we had to do a little work to the hood to get it to clear, no big deal

Is that a steel hood? What is a little work?? oh, I may be moving back to AZ. Lived there for a long time. USAF had different plans for me.

I have a "dropped" Air filter base with 4" filter .

Also Using a filter top.

I don´t have a "Hi Rise " intake ,but the engine is sitting approx. 1 1/2 " higher than stock for ground clearence.
I have also lowered the body over the subframe which also makes less filter/hood clearance.
It´s tight,but It works.
