3" Exhaust Install w/ DSE Quadra Link
Hello All -- I'm almost done with the assembly of my 67 pro touring camaro, but have run into some snags installing a 3" exhaust system. I'm running a narrowed Ford 9", DSE quadra link rear suspension, narrowed DSE fuel tank and mini tubs.
I've seen some pics on the DSE site showing what appears to be 2.5" tubing installed, but even that is ridiculously tight. I REALLY want to avoid doing turn-downs at the rear axle, but pushing the 3" pipe over the axle and panhard bar, then around the fuel tank and out the back seems next to impossible. If anyone has tips or pictures demonstrating success in this area, I would greatly appreciate the help! |
run three inch to the mufflers then 2.5 out the back, i have done a 69 with stock gas tank quadra link and 2.5 tailpipes, you can do it with 3 inch, your just gonna have 1/2 clearance from the rear end back around the tank, you also will need to hard mount the tailpipes so they do not move, isolate the muffler and there will be no droaning

I agree with Jake. Your OK with 2 1/2" tailpipes. The Exhaust manufacturers will tell you once you get past the mufflers it is not so important. I have run some pretty high horsepower cars on 3" into 2 1/2".

Thanks guys ... and thanks for the quick chat Jake. If at all possible, I am going to try avoiding a pipe size reduction (to 2.5") post-muffler... even if it means a lil' dimple to clear the panhard.
