What's your favorite MIG wire?
Just wondering what the preferences are for MIG wire, I have been using twenty gauge brand .030 for sheetmetal up to .188 with my 135T and still love this powdered core wire, any recomendations?

I've also been using that twentygauge powdered core wire but now I can't seem to find it anywhere. If anyone knows where it can be purchased, please let me know.

Good question Don, I was told that WJ Harris was bought by Lincoln. You could buy the wire from quimby corp on eBay a while ago.

I bought my last roll from Quimby on ebay but they don't even know what I am talking about when I phoned them. It seems this stuff has disappeared. I saw a thread talking about this on one of the hot rod forums too. What a shame, it's great wire.

Yes it lays down so smooth on thin gauge sheet. I will call around here to see if I can scare up some old stock.

I like to use esab er70 s6 for mild steel

ER70S6 sounds good for contaminated steel.
Don my store gave me the last stock on the shelves, another dealer had 2 pound spools for 11.78 a pound and that's a ridiculous price. I paid 3.60 lb for mine. I should tell you that the stores are in Toronto CA though. |
