4L80E first gen install??

Anyone know what is involved to install a 4L80e on a 68 Camaro?? I had planned on running a T56 but I stumbled across this 4L80e and debating on running it........just dont wanna regret it later!!! I have a 454 mark V without the injection right now, nothin to special just beefed a little bit??

I'd be interested in the same info. I am considering a 4L80E with Trans controller and paddle shifters. I been taking auto classes at a local JC so rebuilding my own trans sounds appealing and so much less than a 5/6 speed conversion (I have a 700R4 in it now).

the trans clears the tunnel with the engine centered like a small block; might require some massaging if you mount the big block offset like the factory did.

You'll some sort of a trans controller to run the trans, and for the ultimate fun a paddle shifter like mentioned above from Twist Machine.

Remove the adapter fittings for the trans lines and put in 45 degree #6 an 1?4 pipe fittings with a short connection hose. Then it fits real nice.

Do you have to run the TCI computer with the Shrifter or is it compatible with other programs??

it's also compatible with the PCS and Compushift controllers. Not sure about any others.

Yup. Russell part number 612000. Adapter and fitting all built into one part. Aftermarket clips may require tunnel mods (hammer and propane torch) but stock clips usually don't.
