65' Mustang Coupe
Hey all, decided to update and move from the intro forum into the project updates forum. Most probably dont remember me, so I'll give a brief "re-intro." My name is Alex, from the Fargo ND/Moorhead MN area, actually going to college at MSUM. Both of my cars (65 Mustang and 67 Buick Special) are down in Detroit Lakes. Progress has slowed on the Mustang, but hopefully the summer will give me more time to work on it over the weekends. (I work in Fargo, so I cant drive down there everyday, especially with gas at $3.60/gal)
Anyway I just picked up a motor for it, at least to help mock-up anyway. Its a LM7 5.3L out of a 04 silverado. I hope to clean it up this weekend, get it painted and whatnot. The only bad part is that its missing some parts (coils, balancer and accessories) and has bad cam bearings. But for $200 im not complaining. Once in the Mustang it will be efi, but I might just mock it up in the mustang then put it into my buick with a carb. I'll probably end up picking up another 5.3L and sticking a turbo on it. As for the rest of the car, its completely stripped and Im in the process of putting in a roll bar and sub-frame connectors. After that I will probably tackle the electrical, then perhaps install a 4link rear if I make enough money throughout the summer. The Mustang II suspension is installed and ready to go, sorry no pics, for some reason photobucket is being a bucket of... May is kinda a wash, I have alot going on so I dont think the Mustang will see much work done to it :( http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/DSCF1493.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/IMGP2413.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/IMGP2856.jpg http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/i...g/IMGP2858.jpg |
Here is the Front suspension, not sure how far along this pic was taken, but you get the idea. Sorry about the different sizes, photobucket seems to change its mind on what size to make my photos! And yes, I did go a little overboard on the color manipulation on the first photo, must have been when I first got photoshop cs3 to work?!

Nice, what kind of rims are you thinking about?
Will you mini-tub and go extra wide out back? |
nice to see another Stang...let me know what you think of those subframe connectors when you get them in!

Before you put the sub frame connectors in give a look at http://www.maxgsystems.com/presenter...key=Max-G-Home
http://www.maxgsystems.com/presenter...aspx?Id=104557 and to buy it http://www.hdrcoupe.com/catalog/ search for mustang they have it in many colors. If you do go with the global west sub frame connectors get there outer rocker rail kit too. |
Just tore down most of the motor tonight and came to the realization that it has alot of ford-ish features! No mini-tubs, the rubber is pretty wide I think already w/o them, plus it would be a major PITA to install. (Would be cool though) I'll be sticking with the current rims, the 17" mach 1's from a late model mustang. IMO they look sweet and they're cheap, so its a win-win! I'll post up some more pics tomorrow.

When you lose the leaf springs theres a lot of room I can find wheel wells to fit a 20 unsure on how wide tho http://www.autoworksracing.com/65-66...et%20metal.htm

So this is as far as I can go for the time being. |
