Naming your car....why?
Just curious on why some guys name their cars. If you did , how did the name come about?
I never did name my car- except when my son was little- it was Dadda's 'pupple Chevy Chevy ' (its a 56 Chevy Belair modified). To him ALL cars were Chevy's (when he was about 2) and then hot rods were Chevy Chevys. Go figure  http://home.comcast.net/~d56chevy/nats.jpg |
every motorized vehicle i have is named, my wife does it based on what her cookoo bannana mind thinks up.:(

My '69 was Camaro-Rex Penny is.. well Penny And the Fairlane is Monique... lol Names are just an easy way to identify a certain car. I could say "remember that silver '69 built by Mark Stielow 4 or 5 years ago?" Or I could say "remember The Mule?" Which is easier? Ok you can riddle me this.. why do we name ships? |
ships are named for identification purposes ...the good names are also on old war planes with the pinup gals on it as well

My '67 Cougar is "Ginger"
My 69 GTO was Angie (named after a girl I liked at the time.) My 68 Chevelle....? |
My 67 Camaro is the Bucket. Because in the end, that's all it is.

In our case, I never really thought about naming the 442 until my wife made the smart alack comment that the car was "the red-headed other woman." Then, after looking up the word "inamorata," the name of a Pat Benatar album, and discovering it meant "someone who one is passionate about, frequently a mistress," well... it just kind of stuck.
