FUeL hits the track in spectacular form!

Dave brought FUeL out to Race City Speedway today for an open track event with one of the local car clubs. I was fortunate to be able to meet up with him and, after being taken for a couple of wild laps, snapped a couple of pictures. The quality isn`t tht great but you should get the idea of how awesome the car looks on the track.

It was great to see Dave hammering on the car and throwing it around the corners harder then most people would even dream about. It was awesome to see the Camaro on the track dicing it up with the Porsches, Corevettes, Lotus(es) and even a killer Ford GT.

It's unfortunate that the pictures don't give you any idea as to the complexity of the road course. It's 2 miles or so and really is quite challenging. There were a couple of fairly drastic corners that had the pirelli's screaming. The front stretch (where pit road is and where these pics were taken) encompasses the drag strip and shutdown lanes. It's about 3/4 mile long and ends in a sharp 90 degree lefthander. The hydraboost got a workout hauling the '69 down from a buck and a bunch.

It will be fun to watch Dave and car progress on the track over the next few events. Thanks for the ride Dave and for letting me hang with you for the evening.

James thanks for posting up the pics! Great to hang with you, looking forward to the pay back ride in OneLap once it's done.

FUel ran pretty good... except the valve cover gasket came dislodged and was a bit of a smoky mess. Removed the value cover and wrestled for about an hour getting the gasket seated. James finally got it in there. Thanks for that!! WTF is with all the extra gasket and trying to get it all in the slot?? Does it get heat stretched? Putting it in new was nothing like what we struggled with. Then on my final lap the valve cover breather blew out, what a mess. Also had a bit of rubbing from the rear around this one slow sweeping corner. Not 100 % sure what... but James he's big! lol It went away once I dumped him.

Besides the relatively minor issues it was great! After most people left we went and did a drifting session around a cool hairpin corner, what a blast. The drift of the day was a Viper doing a insane run with one hand out the T-roof with a 360 finish... total f'd up and super funny. Should of stayed for that James.

Oh ya James I forgot to ask, how does WOT sound from out side on that front straight?

If we had video, we all would know. ;) :D

Looks great, glad you're having fun. More pics please.

I'll try and work on the video! I'll get some of the Ford GT as well, when that thing rolls by at WOT it is totally insane! Ear piercing and the sound then runs through the ground and up your body, it's a great hearing loss experience!

Cool, Looks like alot of fun. It's really somthing to see a bad ass ride out streching it's legs and not afraid of tearing stuff up and fixing all the little hiccups that seem to find their way in a day that's going great. Joe

Way friggin' cool. By the way, if you wonder WHY these cars are built to go fast and swing corners, ask Scott, Jody, Brent, Charlie, Steevo, Bill and so many others.... they are built to be driven! Sometimes thrashed, but to be DRIVEN!!

Just Awesome.
