Pro Street to Pro Touring Part II
I posted a message several days ago about buying a pro street car and converting it to pro touring.
Here are some more detailed pictures of the 4 link this car already has. Thanks for the previous comments and I am looking for more comments on what everyone thinks the adjustability of this system is and any other thoughts. The axle length is 38 1/2" or so. He is currently using 5.5" backspacing with 31 x 18.5 Micky Thompson tires. He is using a 14" wide rim. Thoughts? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...G/P8130007.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...G/P8130010.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...G/P8130013.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...G/P8130009.jpg Scott, Feel free to remove or reduce images if this is too large. Thanks, |
Kel, the big pics are good when getting into the details.
The biggest thing that sticks out to me is the triangulation and how the rearend is kept centered (I'm sure there's a technical name for that type setup, lol). The car doesn't use a panhard bar, so I wouldn't know how to figure out where your roll center is. I'm sure someone with a lot more knowledge on this subject will drop in. |

4-links with track locators are great for traction...not so great for anything else. You are actually at an advantage however, with the rear suspension as it is there is no reason you couldn't simply add a PHB and replace the upper links with a single third link (obviously a new pair of brackets need to be made up). Do a search for Mean69 over at pro-touring and find one of his 3-link posts. I think I have a few pics, hang on....
Obviously this is an extreme example and I wouldn't expect this caliber of work out of most, but none the less gives you something to strive for. |
wow, that looks sick.....great job
