Do I need to cut my dropped coils??
 

Hey guys I'm just about to install my 2" dropped hotchkis front coils in my 69 camaro with a conventional iron small block and 6spd trans.My question is will I have to cut a bit off my coils to get the car to sit low enough? I will be running 18x8 with 245 40 18 in the front.Is anyone running this setup? Thanks in advance.

With a iron blcok I would not cut any off just yet i would install them and put a few hundred miles on it and see what happens. you can cut if off,but you cant put it back on. just my 2cents good luck with the install

I've got the Hotchkis TVS system on my car and I've had the springs on for a couple years now and they do settle a good bit the top arch of my fender is 24 1/2 inches from the ground and my tire is 24 inches tall (there skinnies so they tuck in). the car has an iron block iron heads and a turbo 350 trans. I dont know if that helps any but if you need anymore mesurements just let me know and ill see what i can get you.

Ditto on the not cutting until you put at least 500 miles on them and see where they settle. Hotchkis may be able to estimate it for you as well as you are running a pretty common set-up.

It seems whenever someone calls the spring company, the rep always says the springs dont settle.....yet everyone I know says they will.....my car did....

It may not be the springs themselves, but all the other new suspension that needs some "break in" time...... the car will settle some...maybe not from the springs, but it will settle....

I totally agree....drive the car for awhile before you cut anything. I've had 2 friends not listen, cut stuff and then 6 months later the car is too low.....

ya thats what I heard and didn't want to get burned.A buddy of mine put small block 2" dropped coils in his iron big block 69 camaro and it sits nails!!!!!!! So I guess I am just going to have to wait.Thanks to everyone :thumbsup:
