Help On Wiring Alternator
Ihave A 69 Camaro Ss 350 It Seems When I Keep The Plug In The Alt There Is A Draw After A Week Battery Is Dead If I Take The Plug Out Its Fine I Replaced The Alt It's The Same Can Some One Explain Where Those To Wires Go If Some Has A Drawing Showing Where The Wires Go The Battery Is Also New If I Drive The Car With That Plug Out Everything Stll Works What Will Happen If I Keep The Plug Out..any Help Out There.............frank........

typically one wire is the exciter for the alternator and the other would be a charge wire going to a gauge.

Check out this site http://www.powermastermotorsports.co...ternators.html There is a lot of good info here and these guys may be willing the help. You need to ID your alt and weather or not it is a one wire type and who made it. Then you can work on finding out what your alt needs from your car(wiring) to operate properly. Then you will need to properly determine what each wire in your cars harness is providing to the alt. I does sound like you have a one wire alt and you are connecting it incorrectly. The fact that you performed an expensive test of changing the alt and battery and the problem is the same eliminates these items.
