How does underwater welding work? Anyone here ever done that?

Yeah, but doesn't the metal get brittle and stressed/fatigued from the rapid cool down?

Scott, I'll start my second (and last) welding class at the end of the month. I'll earn my certification. We can get certified in TIG, MIG, etc. I'm thinking of just doing the MIG but we'll see how it goes. :)

I'll ask my instructor how that works. Great question. Technically, the rapid cool down would crystallize the metal....??

lol, busted. I know it's an off the wall question, but for whatever reason, that subject came up in the shop the other day.
