hydraboost.........

guys got hydraboost on my shop car, at first i had the return t'd into the existing return which was kicking back the pedal, which i then installed a 2nd return in my reservoir above fluid level, as i heard the newer pumps have a few lbs pressure on the return which will get back to the hydraboost and cause issues.
now the car stops good, turns good but if you try to turn the wheel and stop, the hydraboost makes the steering wheel twitch, or almost like it consumes all the pressure for a split second so the steering has none?? do you guys follow me?
let me know what i can do
thanks

Make sure you properly bleed the air out by having the front wheels off the ground and turning the steering wheel lock to lock many times.

Also it can take up to 100 miles or so to get all the air out of system.

jay, thanks i did the tires in the air deal and have over 100 miles on it, so maybe it needs more but am unsure

Mine acted weird for a few hundered miles but smoothed out fine. Paul had explianed to me once that it takes a while for all the 'micro bubbles (his words) to purge.

Make sure the Hydroboost return is on the straight side of the tee.

I also had "crosstalk" in the beginning, but it has gone away during the summer. If it doesn't, your PS pump could flow too little to feed both systems at the same time.

The line coming from the unit vertualy has no return pressure to where as the power stearing pump it self typicaly has 2 to 3 lbs. If you look at a tee from the top side the one coming in the side (which you call the branch part of the tee) you want that to be the hydroboost return. The run part of the tee (the part of the tee that goes strait through) you want that to be the pump return. If these get mixed up you start to put return pressure back into the hydroboost unit and it starts to cause all kinds of symptoms. 1st it would cause back pressure caussing heat in the system 2nd airation would acure which would make your pedal start to pulsate and then cause the brakes to lock or keep kicking the pedal back. The system is going to take a while to bleed all the micro bubbles out and in the mean time make noise (air in the system makes the noise) I also have a B.S. res. and it is plenty sutiable for the system. It is a great design cause it has anti foaming system and the return line comes up th middle and emptys at the top.

if you re- read my posts guys, i got rid of the t return and put a 2nd return in my reservoir above fluid level, so now the steering return is normal coming back from the rack, and my hydraboost has its own dedicated return which is above fluid level.
i cant imagine my turn one steering pump does not have enough volume to feed the hydraboost and the rack, but when i slow down and try to turn at same time there is a hitch in the steering, like it catches or looses pressure for a split second

Don't steer and brake then. Braking should be done prior to entering the corners; any traction used for decelerating cannot be used for cornering.
