HELP! Rear quarter/trunk replacement 1st gen!!!!!!

Okay guys. On www.projectr517.com we have hit a major hurdle. We were able to purchase the complete trunk pan with shock mounts, tank supports etc, and a new driver frame rail. We also have the inner quarters, rear body panel. We have the outer full length quartes coming soon.

Last weekend we started cutting it up. We already put a new main floor in the car. We cross baced the doors and inside before cutting.

NOW...we need some major guidance, help, links...for the best process to cut the whold back end out. Can somebody point us to measurements, photos, links...or been there done that info to make sure we get this cut and welded back right?????

Hers is a picture as we went in. Right now we have the left quarter off and are not sure how to proceed.

Don

I'll agree with Don on this one. Set aside about 3 hours to read the above listed post on Camaros.net. You can also PM Terry (owner of the car in the listed thread). He's quick to respond to PM's and extremely helpful.

I'm doing the same trunk replacement in my car as we speak. I've got about 2 more hours of work and the full trunk will be out and ready for the new one! Gotta love those spot welds!

How did that floor replacement go? I'll be tackling that after the new trunk pan is in and modified for the DSE tubs.

Thanks for the link!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We were able to get a frame schematic and built a dolly Saturday...and here is the result.

We need to also get a new right frame rail and rear bumper support...then we will prep and clean the inner metal and weld it all home.
