Hello Members, that time I have a big problem!

A guy at eBay.com scammed me when I have bought my Dart 320 cylinder heads (2000$).

First he told me stories about he got to wait for the payment to be cleared, what ever that means.

He wanted to get a mail from me with a confermation from the bank that the money is cleared but that was a postal money order.

After I started to complain that I have bought more than 300 items from the states and I have never heard about that nonsence he stoped replying.

Once I called him :bah:, he probably did not expect me to call him, and he picked.
When I asekd what´s wrong with him he told me he is in stress but will come in touch tomorrow and will explain what happened.
Of course no contact anymore.

I was contacting some laywers but only one came in touch, I choose the low offices from the state he lives, should be Indianapolis

The lawyer I was talking with told me usually he takes 225$ per hour but for me he do it for 175$, what a nice guy , is´nt he

I asked him how many hours that should take and he ment he dont know but if the seller does not pay I have too

What a nonsence, if he takes 175$ per hour and he charge me for 10 hours (after all I cannot control the hours) I already pay what the heads was and if he is not succesful I have twice the loss, what a sucking deal

Who got an idea what to do or who is a lawer that could give him a call, I am sure that guy will not risk a trial.

Very important, how can I contact the police to report him to scam me?

Even if you got another idea or if you have a deal for me tell me, I am open for any idea.

For me it is also ok if some bad boys solve the problem, just tell me what the deal is.

How did you pay?

As for the lawyer, if he is charging you an hourly rate, he is telling you that he doesn't think the attempt is worth hiring a lawyer. You could always file a small claims suit against him yourself.

This is exactly why I don't buy from ebay.
I will buy from ebay if and only if the seller has a long reputation of good sales without negatives.

Unless you paid by credit card, that money is GONE. Any more money you spend trying to get satisfaction is gone/wasted.

You should definately report him to ebay (they won't do anything), report him to the police in his area (they won't do anything) and to the BBB if he was a business. Beyond that, you are only making yourself sad. You have been scammed, learn the tough lesson and move forward.

If the moderators allowed, you could post his ebay and personal info here. To make sure no other members bought from this person. In addition, some people have real skill and take a certain evil delight in taking the personal info of a douche bag and applying some creativity to the payback of these individuals, anonomously, of course.

How about posting his name and phone number? From how I have seen members respond to someone in need around here, I wouldn't doubt if someone who lives nearby to him went and paid him a little visit. :unibrow:

Last year I bought a transmission from the lateral-g classifieds. The guy was a total scammer and ripped me off for $1k.
When I started to raise hell about it, members from LS1-tech posted that the very same guy ripped members off from their website as well.

Since I used paypal for the transaction I figured I was safe... WRONG. Paypal didn't do squat other than write a letter to the guy asking for his side of the story.
I googled internet crime reporting for the state of IL (where the scammer lived), they internet crimes department was extremely helpful. I sent them links of the classified AD on lat-g and LS1tech.com. They also took copies of email correspondence and the paypal transaction.
The police told me to stop payment on the CC I used to fund the paypal account, Paypal through a fit because I basically told them to shove it.

Three weeks later the DA office for IL called me about the crime. They said they were doing their very best to get thios scum bag for the crime.
2 weeks later I get home from work to find a transmission Ion my door step.
I called the internet crimes office and told them about recieving the transmission and they told me that they threatened the guy with either delivering the trans or going to jail.

I have to give Tyler from ATS a lot of credit for finding this guy, aparently this clown tried to scam Tyler out of some parts by giving him a credit card.
Of course Tyler had his phone number and passed it along to me.

As for the transmission that arrived after I got my money back, the internals were thrashed badly. It needed a complete rebuild with everything replaced.

I learned a few things from that transaction; never use paypal and never pay with anything except a credit card. Even if you have to buy MO, buy them with a CC. You can always cancel the payment and let the CC company deal with it.

Good luck buying a money order with a credit card. They (the business selling MO) figured that scam out a long time ago, it won't happen.

Hey Rich, was that Paypal incident recent? I went through the same exact deal on some wheels a few years ago. Paypal wouldn't do anything and banned me after I had to handle it myself via chargeback. BUT, I had a similar deal a few months ago and they were a lot more inclined to side with the buyer this time. Probably because they now know we can get our money back regardless. I did have to put together a pretty detailed transaction history w/emails, reciepts, pics, estimates, etc. but the CC company listened.

*edit* I see it was last year, reading to dang fast! Paypal is supposed to be getting better but I wouldn't count on it.

That happened roughly 13 months ago today.

The fine print on Paypal website that you cannot cancel your credit card or you will be liable for the amount of the transaction.
The problem is, paypal doesn't have a legal leg to stand on if you don't receive your merchandise.

My CC didn't have a problem giving me back my money. After filing the claim it took 48 hours for them to yank the money from Paypal. :yes:

Tyler, Mastercard and the Illinois internet crimes got my money and taught me a very important lesson about buying stuff online. Even in the classifieds here.

Note: the guy that scammed me had 155 posts under his belt here and twice that at LS1tech. He also scammed people from two different toyota supra websites. They start posting and within 6 months have enough posts to look legit. It's really F** up!
