Trailblazer straight 6 cylinder Engine
 
Has anyone done any work on one of those? I thinking about using one in a pretty lightweight car that will be different.
I'm probably mostly looking at if someone have ported the head on them and maybe other camshafts. I have not seen any info about this engine out there but to me it gives a pretty decent power output in stock trim. I was thinking of getting it up to maybe 330-350 HP with no cat free flow exhaust, some headwork/camshaft and tuning.

you need to contact ohcbird....jeff... he is using one in his firebird.
he has a ton of info on using this engine...he is a busy man serving our country right now but send him a pm.it might take him a little while to respond because of his work..he has knowledge on these motors...

350 from these engines wont be hard, a simple tune with EFI live, or HP tuners a decent header and a full exhaust *SHOULD* get you where you need to be. if you want to make stupid power

www.selfracing.com give them a call and tell them Matt told you to call. Kevin has his little race car doing 7.90s with this engine Naturally asperated. with two dominators on it, his cams, old school MSD distributor, aluminum rods' there own piston design ect ect these guys KNOW the I6's

Twin Turbo's, Crower rods, CP pistons, my valves (EJ-25), springs, main studs, head studs, Crower cam "regrinds" are some of the changes I have installed.

My best "tip", I fitted a North Star (2005), rocker arm to correct the valve/rocker alignment with the reground cams.

I'm installing one in a 66 nova, going with a single turbo. I haven't found much for these engine, but sounds like some of you have. Any other info/parts out there? Thanks

We have a group of guys running this engine; the vehicles range from a swwet 32 highboy to an Opel Manta that just got back from bonneville. John Cunningham had a 1000+ hp beast that would rev to 10K+ in a 66 Chevy II Wagon... I believe he has since moved on to a big-inch, twin-turbo LSX.

If you're going to get an engine for a swap, then get one from an 06 & above- you'll get 300hp right out of the box, an E67 ECM, a 58X crank trigger wheel (compatible with aftermarket boxes), a much better head (bigger int/exh valves, better ports, and a solid alum valve cover), and a better head gasket. The exhaust cam VVT is also a better design- if you choose the stock electronics. These engines are very conservatively rated. If you go for a full-power tune, you're looking at 325hp+ without changing anything but the tune.

If you're serious about this- there are a group of us that make all the various parts for these engines... turbo manifolds, oil pans, header/intake flanges, cams, cam sprockets, steele flywheels, etc. We also have quite a 'lessons learned' built for the Atlas family of engines. Let me know if we can help...

Cunningham's set up made rite around 1400hp the engine is still owned by self racing and still at their shop :) also went to 400" tt 12.5 degree headed motor i believe. the wagons still nutz.

JC himself told me 1365hp @ 21 psi... I just didn't want to overstate what most combos will do, as he did extensive ehaust port work (he used the earlier heads). I will say- JC & Kevin are some of the true pioneers of this engine. However- since Kevin is bound by proprietary rights to some parts- you can ask about 'em, but unless JC wants to share, you won't get the same pieces without paying the same 'entry fee' he did.

Our group has overcome some of these hurdles, so if you don't feel like experimenting- drop me a line. Despite being stuck in Iraq a large portion of the last 4 years, I communicate regularly with the group.
