Cold air induction - thoughts?

I'm toying with the idea of creating a cold air induction piece for the 502 - partially for performance but mostly for looks and individuality. Any thoughts? Will it have much of an effect on power? Where can I get the tubing to start forming the piece? Where do you get small conical air filters?
Thanks!

friend of mine did that with his 454, no noticable power gains were felt and it just looked kinda cheesy IMHO.

I like the way yours looks now :)

Those links are a couple ideas I saw on the power tour. I also saw an LS1 with a dual setup with the filters exposed near each valve cover but i can't find pics of it. Also look at cold air setups for any LT1 car since they use the same throttle body you might at least get an idea. Ebay is flooded with this stuff. Theres everything from filters to complete cold air setups. Be careful though some of the real cheap stuff is plastic and has cheesy filters. You can also look on K&N's website for all the sizes and shapes of filters they offer. I have a Ramjet 502 and the air filter bugs me too. I went for a tad more expensive option. Twin turbos, intercooler new, fast xfi......still a work in progress but ill post pics when its done.

Jegs and Summit both sell mandral bent tubings, in U shape and J-shapes. You can also find donut formed tube on the internet. You can then cut and weld as needed.

Are you wanting to come out of the intake, and then divide into two, and go on both sides of the radiator?

Ever thought of running some black plug wires under the headers? :)

Yeah, that's what I was thinking exactly - split into two and seek out the empty areas on either side of the radiator. I think this will wait until afterwards, so I can try out the original setup first. The cold air pipes may clutter everything up too much - I kind of like the minimalistic approach.
I've thought about running the plug wires under the headers, but not much room there... You've read my mind on the black wires though, will match everything much better I think. ;)

I'm going to do something like that, I want to pull air from behind the chin spoiler, looking something like the Silverado SS or what Steve Rupp's 68 had, but in black plastic or CF.

I bought my 3" and 4" mandrel bends from Heart Throb Exhaust because they're somewhat local.

I ran a 90 degree bellow off the t/b to a 4" aluminum tube over to the passenger fender. I made a block off plate and mounted the cone filter on the back side sinking the tube in there. There is fresh cold are from behind the headlight.
