Little fun after my build.

Well I finished my PT Lightning build and was able to shake her down at Watkins Glen International at the end of August.

Link to my build thread: https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=15816

And a couple vids of the shakedown runs in novice group at The Glen.....Someone actually said "that airbagged truck will be a DISASTER on the track".....I showed quite a few people how well a proper AirRide setup can do.

Enjoy guys :)

Lapping the Glen must be a blast. What was your top speed?

pitstain 09-09-2008 08:11 PM

The Glen is an amazing track, the truck is about 4600 pounds, but even so I was nearing 130 at the end of the back straight, a few tweaks and she should tap 140 or more at the backstraight next summer.:unibrow:

Looks like the handling is amazing for that size of a truck.
Good job on the suspension mods. What have you done to the motor?

The motor is the stock Eaton supercharged 5.4 from the factory, 80,000miles on it. The ony mods are an AFE intake, a set of DMR Cogged pullies for the supercharger which up boost from 8psi to 11psi, and a full exhaust consisting of Stainlessworks 1-3/4 to 3" headers and midpipes, with Random tech metal matrix cats, a home made SS H-pipe and a pair of SLP Loudmouth 2 bullet mufflers.

There are a few other minor mods like dual 16" efans fun by a DCControls FK60, U/D WP pulley, performance valvebody, and a Kincaid performance Killer Chiller system which actively cools the intercooler fluid using the A/C, which I have recharged with es12a refridgerant.

I also dropped the rear end from 3.73 to 3.31 to make the low end power a bit more manageable in the turns.

Very cool videos...Maybe steveo can set you up with a paddle shifter.

If you ever get into doing more to that motor, take a look at Magnusons TVS or high helix compressors. They do not have a direct fit (that I know if) but it would be WILD what it would do in terms of power.

Who the heck is Steveo? :_paranoid

But I did have two rather interesting convo's with Mark from Bowler, and Lou from Mastershift, they gave me some great ideas for next summer.

I have already been harassing someone to make that happen for the Lightning, I am drooling for a TVS blower, those twin-screw jobbers make me nervous in an open track environment.
