rear suspension
Hello I am new to the forum. I have a 1973 camaro with full body resoration and paint. the color is Sinful cinamon by Duponts Hot Hues. I have just come received a brand new rear suspension from a friend with coilover and ladder bars. The problem is that the ladder bars are 31-32"s long. The rear sub frame id to short to weld the cross bar. Is there a way I can weld in subframe connectors and weld the cross bar to that?
Thanks Mark |
We should start by asking what your intended purpose is, ladder bars are for drag racing and completely suck for anything else. Second , if you are asking how to install them it should be left to professionals. There are many mods that can be made with little to no experience but this is not one of them.

suspension
I would like to do some road racing and its obvious now that ladder bars are not the way to go. But what would be the best thing? I have coilover 10 way adjustable shocks new but not on the car.

irs (independant rear suspension) is the way to go

im sure dennis will chime back in on this one..... there isnt any one "best" way to get what ya want.... every diff set up has pros/cons... i personally would lean towards a 3 link or 2 link/torque arm set up.
irs can be made to work great... but way too much of a P.I.T.A. and solid rear cars can/do handle better than a lot of poorly setup irs cars. your number one goal is gonna be safety..... any and all fab work needs to be done by person who knows/understands what they are doing. |
I agree completely. IRS is great for the kewl factor if you have the money but I would rather run a 3-link/TA arrangement and spend the money somewhere else. As far as which is better...I like the 3-link but the TA is "almost" as good for a quite a bit less fab/money.
