How about using a wire wheel on a bench grinder?

Caliper Finish

I've heard from the guys at Vette Brake Products that you can have your calipers tumbled with a fine peen and it will restore them to a factory finish. You can clear powder coat them to prevent them from rusting.

Have them soda blasted or plastic media blasted, it will remove the coating and cause no damage what so ever.
