As expected, Barrett Jackson Vegas prices weak

Aside from a few examples, I am seeing some well documented (supposedly) and nice originals and mild customs go for much lower prices at the Vegas show these past 2 days. I think it is a sign of things to come at Scottsdale, which needs even more buyers to bid up the much larger inventory there.

some examples I saw:

67 Hemi Coronet (not original block but date code correct motor) went for $54k today. A clone of this car would sniff $100k in recent years!

an orig 64 GTO with 389 tripower and 60k orig miles went for $28k.

documented #s matching 69 Z28 for $56k. These were fetching $80-90k last couple years.

Now, a few pro-touring (resto-mods as BJ announcers like to say) cars surprisingly well I thought. A couple 69 Camaros for $83k and $88k. And a nothing special 383 powered 72 Chevelle hit $60k.

So, it looks like the collector/original car niche is getting hit harder than the custom/pro-touring niche to me....

Good time to be a buyer there I say!

I agree. This is a great time to be a buyer. I was shocked to see two Original Boss 302 Mustangs sell for cheap as well. I think one of them was under 30K.....

Lot # 507 was my camaro I had a few years ago. I beleive it was in 04 I built it . Sold it then for 50k . Seems like it did well.

We do BJ every year and the trend has been going more towords the restro mod style cars. Good for all of us.

The Vegas show will be soft as its new so it will not draw the kind of money Scottsdale will. I think Scottsdale will be off but BJ in Vegas was a bad mistake for them. They are going to hurt themselves by having to many shows. That will drive the prices down good for buyers bad for builders.

I bet he still makes millions in Vegas because for BJ its a win win he gets paid no matter what but the more the cars go for the more he makes.

having it so close to SEMA seems kinda stupid. If hes gonna do it there at least schedule it for a time where its gonna be the only "big" automotive thing going on.

I'll bet alot of guys who bought cars in Vegas will be sellers at Scottsdale this year or next.

That may be a very good strategy, albeit risky, based on the prices I have seen these past 2 days for collector/original type cars..

So what's the story with the Green 69 RS/Z28? It had what looked to be a 67-68 rear spoiler on it as it was much narrower than the width of the quarters. I had to show the wife...got to love TiVo!!

I didn't see that one. Or don't remember it. How much did it sell for?
