Attn: Painters. Hockey Stripe Question
I'm not a body man or painter. I have a completed chevelle. Thinking about putting a "reverse" hockey stripe on it. I think I know the answer, but wondered if their are any tricks.
If I add a hockey stripe to my already completed paint job, do I have to re-clear the whole car? Or is there a trick so I can simply have a stripe painted on? |
i just recleared the panels that were painted ie fenders and doors

I was hoping you'd reply. I've watched your project and its beautiful. I looked at it today. I'd have to go up over the roof and down the other rear fender to do it right. I'm mulling it over. Maybe a project later in the winter.

thanks for the encouragement...still some late nights ahead of me before its done, but I am learning- :D

You could mask and shoot in single stage but would leave an edge. If you don't want an edge you will have to re-clear the panels.

Thanks for the input everyone. I knew those were the answers, but just thought I'd check. I will sit on it and think about it. Dont know if I want to tackle that yet. I have plenty of other projects to tackle for now.:lateral:

your other option would be a paint mask or a label / decal.
One of the benfits would be if you don't care for it you can just pull it off. I suggest you use the blue or green tape to lay it out on your car. Stand back and take a look at it and see if you like it. Or you could get a hold of Carter hickman and get his really cool program that allows you to paint and stripe your own car. |
