New Guy from Ga.
I've been lurking & enjoy what I read so .......... I thought I'd jump in the water.
I'm building a non conventional vehicle to this forum (I see lots on camaros, vettes, stangs, cuda/challanger stuff) but my vehicle is a bit different: 1946 Ford long door coupe It's not that I've not had the camaro, vette & stang vehicle I just wanted something a bit more unique (for me). I'm in the process right now of installing a Chassis Works (ALSTON) 4 link, coil over, FAB9 rear, tube A-arm, coil over front with R & P steering. Front & rear BIG Wilwoods. I've already unloaded all the suspension parts plus the flathead, 3 speed & torque tube drive line. The skinnie steelies & bias plys have also been ditched. A simple Trick-flo headed SBC with a carb feed 68mm intercooled turbo is replacing the original 239. Trans is muncie 4 speed now but $$ & a deal will bring home a 5 or 6 speed trans. Wheel choice has been made to American SaltFlat Specials in 16" hoops. Interior will be sparce with a bomber theme through out. Lots of aluminum & rivets. Ride height will be in the 4-5" daily driver position with the ability to run a little closer to earth. I know this is not your "normal" g-machine as it cuts the wind like a brick .... but its my brick!! I'll post some progress pix if anyone has any interest. Ratty 46 |

Thannks guys.
I sold a pro street 66 chevy II & my 62 Ford Uni to fund this build. The 66 is out in Tx now racing & the uni went local & is a daily driver. I've made more progress in removing some of the original X members - which will be replaced with new tubing. Here's a shot of the cherry front end. I'm trying very hard to have this done for the april Fla. Billet Proof get together. We shall see!! http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...icture1327.jpg It's a fun project...... so far & should be very unique when finished. Unlike most of the cars here on this forum with slick paint - mine is actually done paint wise. Ratty 46 |
After removing & selling off the front & rear suspension, engine, trans & torque tube along with the wheels & tires it was cutting time.
So far I've removed the front & rear suspension X member mounts along with the center part of the X member. My intention is to install some fab'd C channel to run on each side parallel to the frame back into the remaining X member. I'll be using this as the side mounting point for my front 4 link setup, driveshaft loop, trans mount & possibly an addt'l brace for strenght. I also scored a Currie built 9" third member with 4:11 gears & a detriot locker. So...... as soon as I get the "C" channel I'm back in biz & moving forward. http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...icture1433.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...icture1429.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...icture1430.jpg http://i182.photobucket.com/albums/x...icture1431.jpg Ratty 46 |
