Best sticky tire for your buck

need 17 x255x40 and 17x 315x35 tires that have ""tremendes grip"" (road legal)
witch ones are the best reguardless of price and witch ones are your best bang for your buck... need them for a 3000 mile road race..

probably the best grip out there will be michelin pilot sport cup 2. just about every exotic runs them due the performance of the tire. my .02

I would also consider Toyo Proxes R888, haven't tried my own yet, but there are many who have very good experience with them on the track.

I absolutely LOVE my Proxes RA1s

I have a good friend who has autocrossed and open track dayed Corvettes for years and he currently runs these http://www.tirefactory.net/ultrac.htm on his twin turbo C5 and absolutely swears by them. His autocross e.t.s are usually in with the racing tire guys and he can go WOT in 2nd where he had to wait until 3rd with his Michelins.

Jay, it doesn't show that they make them in wider sizes....it this true?

The sizes listed on that site definitely need updated. I'm not sure how big they go but my friend is running something like 295/30/18s on the C5 with larger fronts than are shown on there as well. It's worth a call or a seperate search because that list is incomplete.

That depends.. They require a lot of heat to get working right. Sometimes in an autocross or shorter event they don't get a chance to build up enough heat. That's what we found when doing track testing. Great road course tire though.
