Tuners: Cold weather, car runs AWESOME!
OK, so yesterday night I took the car out in probably 45 F temperature. It ran noticeably better than it ever has. But up at 74 degrees, it doesn't run as well. Doesn't the cold weather lean it out. Therefore, I can assume I am running a lil too rich?
I know it will always be snappier in cooler weather, but this was VERY noticeable. |
It's like 7 horsepower per 10 degrees. 30-40 hp makes a seat of the pants difference. I'd love to run some intake tubes but prefer the looks without.

Sounds like you might be on the right track! I thought you bought a new ECM? |

We dynoed a late model LS1 Vette with a Procharger in the afternoon, hot day probably 100-105 degrees. Made 370 rwhp or so, very lazy. Brought it back to the same dyno early the next morning at 75 degrees and it made about 450 rwhp, completely different car. |
WOW Jody, that is some differance! Didn't think it would have made that big of a differance!

How much will things like an intercooler, water/meth injection, or running full intake plumbing away from the motor (or all 3 combined) help even out this big difference?
That 80 hp diff on that Vette is astounding. |

ECM = Not yet. The plan was to install it in 1.5 weeks, but SEMA is in the way. Now I keep going back and forth cause its running pretty good. My big initial push was because my current programming does not retard timing under boost. I thought it was a problem, but I am learning that under the small amount of boost I am running (anywhere from 8-14 lbs), retard may not be so important? I just haven't come up with that solution that "feels just right." |
