The NASCAR machine

I'll admit it, I watch, it's the perfect white noise for when I'm in the shop. I knew NASCAR was pulling big numbers, but I didn't know how big...

Scott, sounds like you need to send your favorite driver a G-shirt and some decals. :D

So does IRL .. they hardly run any road courses and they do is complain about tires and refuse to race.

I will watch Nascar when I can't find any other racing on. Or it is the last ten laps of the race. That is when it gets real interesting.

I had been a Nascar fan for forty years but it has become a big yawn. I really don't see racing anymore in Nascar and rarely watch a race. They have so crippled the cars they can't even pass one another anymore. If they didn't have a manufacturer's name on them you couldn't tell them apart. I grew up in Detroit and in the sixties it was about the cars. I'm now here in Nascar country and I believe the fans here who grew Nascar feel a bit betrayed. The closing of many of the old tracks' races is a trade for the big money venues and the TV money. I'm not sure but it might eventually backfire on them just as the NBA was the glamor sport for awhile and has seen its' numbers declining. I know it must sound like I'm turning into an old fuddy duddy.I guess the way it works is they're trying to make sure everybodies billboard gets equal time on television. If you'd like to see some real racing go down to the Friday or Saturday night dirt track race locally. Catch some of the outlaw races. I guarentee that for $10.00 you'll have a great time. You'll actually see some racing.Ed

I agree, Ed. If you want to see some REAL racing, go watch a 410 Sprint Car program.
