Long term 68.
Hi! Some of you might have seen me around Pro-Touring.com before, but I thought I would introduce myself and my car here too.
I recently brought my 68 Camaro out of storage after college, marriage, career, kid on the way, etc. I don't really have much of a budget on this, but I have lots of time, so I am going to do what I can when the money is there. Right now my freelance design money goes to the Camaro budget. She was in the process of being built as a drag car when I bought it in 1996. I have been a fan of the Pro-Touring style since it came out, and have wanted to do a pro-touring build of my camaro. The focus of the previous owner was all motor. The motor had only 1,500 miles on it when it went into storage. We got it running again last month and save from so tuning work I still need to do, she runs good. It has a 430 HP 350, it's kinda old school with Iron heads and a gear drive, but it puts out a ton of power and sounds good, so it will do for a while. I am getting some back fire, but I think it has a cracked distributer cap. I want to keep it in running condition in between projects. Here is what the car looks like now: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3215/...8a6de02031.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3019/...12d4287712.jpg Projects I have completed: Carb rebuild Getting it running again Removed the stock AC unite and replaced it with a delete box Here is what I plan on doing probably over the next 5 or so years: LS1/C6 Disc Brakes - front and rear American Racing Torq Thrust M's or the New Boss 338's in gray Solid Body Bushings Poly Motor and Trany Mounts New set of headers Hotchkis TVS kit + and extra inch drop all around. AFX spindles if I can afford it, or the G-mod if not Maybe some upper control arms These seats: http://static.summitracing.com/globa...80-1000-51.jpg Some body work and rust removal Pypes, Dynomax, or Flowmaster exahust system And I want to paint it flat black and leave it at that for a while. Here are the things I would love to do someday, but it will probably be a while before I can put that kind of money into it: T56 swap New motor, probably fuel injected. Mini Tub G-Bar rear suspension. Rip off the vynal top and clean up the roof underneath Silver paint with Gun metal rally stipes. In the end, this is the car I dream of having: http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3183/...5d2e279f38.jpg (Yes, it's a photoshopped picture of Bad Penny.) |
Good looking starting point. The photoCHOP looks good also

To be fair, I photoshop all day. I design book covers. I just wish the actual car work was as cheap and easy as the PS work. ;-) |
