Friday's coming...

Hey everybody, just a reminder, the monthly Friday art show is coming up this week. If you haven't had time to do the theme car https://lateral-g.net/forums/showthread.php4?t=16872 just post something that you've worked on over the last month, or even before that. Another forum I'm a member of usually has 7-8 pages of posts, and they do theirs weekly! Lets get some more participation! Style, skill level, and rendering method doesn't matter, just post what ya got and enjoy the show!

Well, I'll be out of town this Friday, so I'll throw my hat in the ring tonight!

First, here's something my old boss and I designed together a while back. It's a 50's Mercury themed COE hauler. It was pretty out there, but I think it came out pretty cool. It's been named "The Sledster" and was made into a collectible diecast vehicle. So that's something for this week's theme...but it's old.

So here's something new...and in the spirit of the SEMA show, it's a car that will be at SEMA! It's the JME Enterprises company racecar, dubbed "Boss 0770" and it combines both the styling of a '70 Mustang fastback and an '07 GT500 and is built for the racetrack. Check it out if you're going to be at SEMA, it'll be right by Ford's booth!

Uh, I think I won't be posting this time now, you win Kris! :D J/K, awesome stuff! I'll put a link on there for yours when we post up Friday. Love the styling!

You said you did this with your boss, you work at Hot Wheels or something?

Can we vote for the next art show? You said you've got buckets of ideas and no doubt others do too, what if you announced the next month with a poll? huh, huh? huh? :unibrow: .... ok maybe not.

If you meant voting on what theme car to do, we don't need to vote just pm or email me what you want to do and we'll do it. :D Not for December though, I've got a good idea for that one but come January I'm all ears. No matter what car we do it's good for our portfolios. I have ideas, but I'm sure some of you do too. I'd like to limit monthly ideas coming from artists only though, I wouldn't want this to become a "have several artists draw my car for free" thing, that's not fair to those that depend on this to put food on the table.

If you meant voting on who did the best one for the month, that's an idea I was kicking around too. I'd like to see more participation and that may be a way to get it. Maybe you're only considered for the contest if you do the monthly theme car, and anybody can post anything else just for fun. See this thread... https://lateral-g.net/forums/show...275#post175275

Yeah I meant vote for the theme, but I think you've got some great ideas in that other thread so I'm gonna go over there and post. It's absolutely true that any work is good for our portfolio so don't get me wrong here but I spend plenty of time drawing stuff I don't REEEEALLY love to draw and don't get much time for the "for fun" stuff anymore. That said, how about some track machine themes in the future? I even think some late model stuff would be fun for this crowd too, but only once in a awhile.

A track theme would be good for Jan when most of us have our cars in the garage and the tracks are empty for the winter. Maybe it could be a draw what your favorite type of racing thing is. There was a fellow who posted a bunch of great drag stuff a while back. Love to see him join in.
