Has anyone here used wilwood brakes on a second gen camaro?
 

Hi, I'm a new member looking at upgrading the brakes on my camaro to the wilwood front and rear disc setup. Has anyone here used their stuff on a second gen camaro? How was the fit ? Any issues with their kits? If you've installed one of their kits on a second gen camaro, could you post up some pics?

We install and sell a ton of Wilwood for 2nd gen Camaros, as well as everything else. We have it down to a science with our exclusive Total Car g machine brake Packages. Fit is true bolt on with the exeption of triming the front caliper bracket off the original spindle. No dig deal, just a cut off wheel will do.

Thanks for the info. Now could anyone here with a second gen. camaro post up some pics of the finished installation on their car for reference? I've seen 2 different setups for the wilwood rear disc brakes. 1 with both calipers mounted facing the rear of the car and 1 with the drivers side caliper facing forward and the passenger side facing rearward. Was wondering if it made any difference ?

The brakes mounted front and rear (nine oclock and 3 oclock) is for the staggered shocks on the factory cars. The cars with the calipers both mounted the same (nine o clock) are most likely aftermarket suspension with both shocks mounted behind the rear.

That may well be why it was mounted that way as that particular camaro did have what were either cal-trac or slide-a-link mounting plates installed on the rear axle. Hmmm, I wonder if those mounting plates move the rear shock over some to give more clearance for mounting the wilwood calipers at the rear on both sides.

It's been a while since my stuff came in over at my builders shop for the 72 RS but I thought my builder said something about the kit we received becoming some kind of a "new Package or system" that they are looking to release (if they haven't already)....

I know the fronts are 13" 6 piston calipers and I think the back were 12" 4 piston calipers with e-brake incorporated into the rotors as discussed above. I'm hoping to take some project update pic's early next week and will ask my builder about the package then.

Yes it is a internal E Brake. The front and rear kit with E Brake cables, Braided front and rear hoses, Master Cylinder and prop valve, Wilwood fluid, safety wire and safety wire pliers is $1850 for everything.
