Goodguys-AZ. General thoughts and pics (long post)

I want to post my general thoughts and a few pics of the goodguys swnationals. You can tell by the "cheesiness" of this post how impressed I was. Keep in mind, I had never attended a goodguys, and never been to a show that large. Also, I made the mistake of taking my wife's fancy camera, that I don't know how to work. All the pictures were darker than dark. So I deleted about 2/3 of them, and tried to brighten up the rest.

For me, the weekend couldn't have been better. I am still shocked at how cool some of the people I met were, and how tight knit the "car community" is.

Fesler Built: I started weekend at Feslers kick off party. Man, what a shop. It's immaculate, and of course, filled with goodies. The cars are pristine (I think he won a pro's pick). Best of all, Chris and the workers treated me like a king. At the party, I was talking to Chris about the '64 Chevelle hood hinges. I joked that "they sure would look good on my car in the show" Immediately, he called his right hand man. Long story short, during the party, they brushed their set of prototype hinges (to match my engine compartment), then we spent a couple of hours installing them. They look awesome. And more importantly, function great. My stock hinges had a crack and were about to snap in 1/2, literally. This was totally unexpected, and made my weekend! 1- it saved me a day of labor. 2-the hinges made my engine bay for the show (it worked cause I won the mighty muscle pick!) From there, Chris and his wife were way cool all weekend. I could go on and on, but it would bore you. In short, an awesome company with great products and amazing builds.

Time Machines/Modern Muscle: I met Mike, Bill, and James. Wow! Another set of amazing people. I was trying to coordinate some things. I meet these guys, and they act like they've known me for years. Offered up tons of help and treated me like I just bought one of their cars! And I've never bought a thing from them. Just all around "good 'ol boys". Their cars were just insane also.

Bob Ream, Imagination Injection: Now the only "tuner", computer guy I will ever use (not to take away from any others!) I met him thru Mike from Time machines, just from a quick post on this site. Bob, like the above, is just something else. Bends over backwards to help, and is going to be a huge problem solver for me. Thanks for the intro Mike!

I also met 5-10 members of this forum. Every one of them very cool. It's odd the "bond" we have just from a site such as this. That's why this site is so beneficial to us all. For me, somewhat a newbie, this all motivates me, creates ideas, and most importantly, furthers our beloved hobby. And literally, some problems arose this weekend that I could not have worked out without the friendships from this site.

In summary: Awesome show. Exactly what I envision a car show should be. Lots of beautiful cars, tons of vendors, etc. And most importantly, the "brotherhood" if you will, was quite shocking to me. I still can't believe the insta-family I feel like I just became a part of.

I'll shut up. here are pics: Remember, had to trash most the pics....

I thought the show was pretty good, Not as many Vendors as I thought would of been there, Fesler had some beyond bad ass cars too.

Weather was perfect.

Jason same to you and it was great to finally meet you. I know we had been talking for some time to get the hinges on your car and we finally did it. I know you wanted them on for the show and we made it happen.

I would like to think that they helped you win but your car is over the top and needed no help from my parts.

I two talked with Mike and he is a great guy as well. Also talked to 70two Nova about his project and hanging out at the show. Good guy

Overall the show and open house went very well and I will try to add a few pics of the shop and cars so you guys can see them.

Thanks to all who attended

I also cant say enough about how cool Jason and Chris both were.
You both were very down to earth guys and for a younger enthusiast like myself it was quite sobering to be treated like a "friend" from two people who have such a presence in the hobby. Thanks alot!

No problem man we were all young at one time and started with not much so its great to see the young guys getting so involved. I still think I am young but have been doing this for over 20 years now.
