drip rails
i was wondering if anyone has done this. i was thinking of removing the drip rails off my 73 nova. if anyone has done this how hard was it to do and if you have any pics that would be nice maybe i could weld a peice of round stock to keep any water out
|
i was going to but decided not. i didnt want to damage the roof. air ride did it recently to their nova. they cut and weld every 3" so not to damage the roof. they also did flush windows! i think the article was in the recent popular hot rodding magazine!

CRAIG--I JUST DID A 68 C10 AND IT LOOKS GREAT BUT IT IS TIME CONSUMING!! DID SMALL CUTS AND TACKS--THEN FINISHED REMOVING--NOVA SHOULD BE EASIER--BIG UGLY ONES ON C10--FLUSH FIT DOORS AND ROLLED IN WINDSHIELD POSTS FLUSH--ENDS UP SLICK LIKE 73-UP TRUCKS !! JIM:wow:

|
We are doing some in the next few days. We will be welding a tiny rod on the edge to give it strength and a nice rounded edge.
I will share some pics. |
all the work was done on the cab to match the doors!! (make sure weather strips are temporarily in place--really changes the door profile on these trucks)
that is why i pulled in the windshield posts -- the are 1/4 inch out on these trucks from factory --when u shave drips , the door flushes on top of frame and back edge but stills hides behind windshield post!! looks like crap to me--stared at it a week before deciding to cut--really easy on these trucks--still time consuming-- Frank is right about the small rod--does give nice look and strength!!! jim:thumbsup: |
Craig let me add 1 thing- the doors were fitted and after hours of jam alignment and i was satisfied then began the drip removal!! the cab is still not a dead match to the door frames top and back but then the massaging comes in with lots more hours--i will send more pics in a few weeks when i reinstall doors and u can judge for yourself if it was worth it!!! look at the stock 68 pic from front and u can see how much door sits tucked in behind windshield post!! jim:yes:
