Gas tank filler neck solder?
Well I took all my stuff to the powder coater and he said that the solder around my gas tank neck would melt and if I wanted to powder coat the tank then I would have to remove the solder and weld the neck to the tank. Has anyone done this? Or have any info? I really want to have it powder coated but don’t know if its worth it. It’s a stock aftermarket tank.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powder_coating You could have the neck silver soldered on or brazed. Or use a higher melting point solder. It appears the highest temp your powder coater will use is 390F. |

He said that it will bake at 400, and said that last time they hung it from the neck and it fell out. I think that is why it happend, I asked him about drilling a small hole on the extra trim on the side but he did not want to try it. I may just go to a differant place for that peice. |
