are you asking about base/clear or spray bomb?

both actually! i know you can't use regular paint to my knowledge from autozone. thanks

I've done more than a few factory and BBK brakes with regular basecoat/clearcoat paint and still after 5+ years no blistering, peeling or chipping, it's all in the prep work, and they have to be spotless and off the car ,you can use Bulldog adhesion promoter or etching primer before applying base color, I know it worked for me

caliper paintin
media blast them then paint them. i did it myself just cleaning and paint looked good i thought. but recently i had front end totally redone w/calipers media blasted and then painted, they look alot better. its all about the prep work if you want it to look right

I've used DupliColor caliper paints in a spray bomb application. Goes on easy and even, and holds up to the temps. Cheap and easy. Got the stuff from Pep Boys down the street. Just clean them really well with brake clean and tape off any areas you don't want painted or hit with over spray. The other option is to pull a part the entire caliper and have them powder coated. Much more work this way.
