The GT2:1969 turbo fastback
Hi,
Been lurking for most of 2 years but now I'm finally building a car that's worth a post or 2. So here the run down so far! These are the renderings of how the build will look incl. some "artistic freedom" (drip rails and door handles are staying so far): http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...ngfrproof4.jpg http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...rfinal1280.jpg The GT2 naming is because this is my second attempt at a GT type car (Gran Tourismo) or Pro Tourer. The feature list looks like this: Ford SB 363 stroker, World Products block, all forged & hyd. roller, 0 balance, Diamond pistons Single turbo: BW AirWerks 80mm S400 (S480?), intercooler Big Stuff 3 ECU HKS EVC VI boost controller BBK SSI-R intake T-56 trans from Pro Motion, McLeod RST clutch, hydraulic throwout AJE front coil over struts w/adjustable A-arms, improved roadrace K-member, double adj. Koni's, manual rack & pinion 13" 4-piston Brembo front, 11,65" Cobra R rear FAB9 9" rear & TrueTrac, TCP leaf spring kit, adj. Varishocks TCP torque arm & Panhard bar 18" Shelby CS56 wheels, 9.5" and 11" width Toyo R888 rubber, 275/35 and 315/30 Speedhut Revolution gauges 69 Deluxe interior, black ProCar leather seats Rollcage & Simpson harness Custom carbon bodywork & aero parts The car is being built by CPR Streetmachines, the engine by Total Performance (Obsidian etc.). Both in San Diego. I do as much of it as I can on weekends in CA. |
I was lucky to get a stranded project from a guy in Portland, looked like this when it rolled in:

Engine being done by Total Performance:

Shock towers shaved to make more room for turbo piping:

Rear wheels back from widening (Vaughns Machine in LA). Went from 9.5" to 11" for the rears. Notice how little weight was needed to balance out those 315s.
http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...h_DSC_0035.jpg http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...h_DSC_0040.jpg With all 4 wheels present and accounted for we could finally set the ride height: http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...213_143103.jpg Front fender got the lip rolled around a 5/16 rod to get a nice curved edge: http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...213_143051.jpg http://i300.photobucket.com/albums/n...213_143055.jpg |
Its all in the details, repositioning the rear wing:
