Attn Jody.....motor mount question
 
What do you plan to use for motor mounts on your LT-1? Do you have something pretty lined up or oem type. I am getting ready to mock my LT-1 and ZF 6 speed into the sub frame and I need to order new motor mounts. Thanks

I'm using the Energy Suspension urethane ones, but they take the same standard mount that fits a regular small block. Just make sure to double check the pad width on you frame mountrs because there's two different widths there for small blocks and you'll need that to get the correct engine mount.

The LT1, 327, big blocks, etc. all have the same bolt pattern on the block. You just need to match them up to the width of your frame pad. The 307/327 is supposed to use a wider frame mount than the 302/350. So just double check the width of the frame pad where the mount locates.

Jody is right; the 307 frame mounts are wider and taller, and use a wider and thinner motor mount. All the other engines used narrower and shorter frame mounts with narrower and taller motor mounts. The taller engine mounts will absorb a little more vibration since they have more isolation material.

FYI, based on my measurements of factory pieces, the 307 frame pads and engine mounts will lower the engine in the car by about 3/16" compared to the 350/all other engine mounts. I run the 307 stuff myself, mostly because my car was originally a 307 car and I didn't feel like swapping the mounts on the frame. Added bonus that it lowers the engine a bit!

However, with the 307 mounts you may have clearance issues when running a mechanical fuel pump. I did (with the cross member ) and resolved it by going to the 350 mounts (Energy Suspension). That was my intro into the two different mounts!

I know it's an old thread....but the 302/350 is actually the best setup to get your engine low in the chassis. The 307/327 is slighly higher.

Old thread is an understatement! :P

What you said wasn't true about my Chevelle frame perches-- I had both sets on hand and tried both, and the 307 mounts allowed the engine to sit a bit lower in my car.
