Tubbing a 68
I just joined Lateral-G I own a 68 Camaro and have a Hotchkis TVS suspension system, Cal Tracs traction bars and Baer disc brakes on all 4's. We are presently removing the body to replace the floor pan and I was thinking about Detroit Speeds Mini Tubs so I can put a larger tire on the back. I called Detroit Speed and they said you have to buy the kit for shock and leaf spring location, also the gas tank would need to be replaced. Not wanting to break the bank is there anyone out there that makes a different kit for tubbing your car for a little less cash. Any help will be appreciated.

The problem is that doing the tubs kills your mounts for the shocks, so they have to relocated. Others here might have some ideas. Oh, welcome to the site. |
Mini tubbing is an expensive decision. You can use a stock tank with a G Bar but the tank needs notched for exhaust pipes. (The old version atleast) To do it right you need 11-12 inch rims which makes them much more expensive. As the old saying goes...snowball. Well worth it though.

Mini tubbing is a slippery slope of expense. The kit is only the beggining, then narrow the rear (do not have to but most want a deep lip wheel), 12" wheels, 335 tires, Cha Ching!

is the mini tub kit from dse compatible with there four link suspension in the rear?
