I will save $33K and get LSX 454SS from Mast Motorsports. 700hp & 600ft lbs. Ooops, guess I will spend 35K for an extra 77lbs.

Katech is a high class company and know their stuff, but I am sick of hearing their elite attitude on the Corvette forums and LS1 tech. Their products are very expensive and they think they are "it" in the LS world (yea right). Just my opinion, but I will support our vendors on LATERAL-G forum before I cross over the to the Katech elite.

Blessings,

I'll be posting engine dyno numbers soon with that same intake on an LS7.

If I was going to spend 50k on a motor I think I'd go for a Nelson Racing Engine Twin Turbo 454 LSX motor that came in at 1500 hp/tq on street gas (2500hp on race gas) for 52k:

Or I could save a bunch of cash and only get their street mannered model and settle for 900 hp/tq for only 28k:

Or you could buy a supercharged LS9 and have $20k left over. lol

I'm sure it's nice but $50k for an engine makes me dizzy...

That intake is pretty badass... is it going in your car?

If so you're going to have a nice power to weight ratio.. yikes!

Out of curiosity, what does it take (parts wise) to build a 500ci LS motor? I wonder what block they're using? What heads and how much work have they had done to support that displacement?

The heads are LS7.

Blessings,

Trust me. You're not the only one that doesn't think the world of Katech. Many people including damn good engine builders don't like them or their products. It's not an issue of being jealous of their sucess either.

I'll eventually build a 402 and I'll be happy with my streetable 500 HP engine with its gobs of torque to get my boat of a TA moving. I'll do it for waaaaaaay under $10k too. $50k is wow!
