First time replacing quarters. HELP!!
 

I don't want to wait 6 months for my shop to do my quarters for me, so I am just going to do them myself.. I am in a welding class at my highschool, so will know how to weld soon..
But how would I go about doing this? Is there any step by step guides for beginners?
Everyone has to start someday..
Also what type of welding do I do with this? AKA MIG, TIG etc.

I'm doing the same right now on my passenger side quarter. The problem is that there's no cookie cutter procedure on how to do it b/c all the repro panels need some form of tweaking and it varies somewhat. Just be careful removing the existing panel noting where all the welds are and set the new panel in and start beating, banging, hammering, grinding, etc. until you get to where it fits like you want it! It doesn't appear to be that bad of a project, but time will tell (for me at least).

What model car are you working on?

Working on a 70 GTO right now.. Lol this should be fun!! My mom is going to enjoy this ;)

Well, those panels may fit better than some of the Camaro panels. I would do a search for GTO's on the site and PM those guys about their cars. Maybe you can find someone who did this same work already and can give you some better direction than me.

Oh, and mig weld the panel.

MIG welding is the easiest type of welding right?

Can't wait 'till Saturday!! I just hope I can get it done before the weekend is over..

Also, do you know where I can get some nice weld through primer? Thanks for all the help man..

It is for me, b/c that's the only type of welding I've ever done. I would use some of the metal you're removing and use it to practice plug welding before you tackle the "real deal".

I have my thoughts on weld through primer, but someone else chime in, please. It burns away when an arc is struck, so what's the point? Just my $.02. BUT to answer your question, you should be able to get it at any paint shop, and I believe O'Reilly Auto Parts sells it (?????).

You think you could have it up by Friday or early Saturday? I saw a video you guys put up on youtube, but it didn't really go in depth on the process..

Also, I live it Pearland Tx guys.. Right outside of Houston..

There are a few shops close by, I am not sure what they do, but they have old cars sitting out there, so I will swing by..
