Turbo Charged-where it really started

For any of you guys who like the turbocharged stuff IMHO this is where the application really got put into the main stream when Porsche came out with the 911 turbo in 1976 . Then they started racing them and by 1977 we had twin turbo charged cars. I think Porsche is heavily responsible for putting turbo chargers in the mainstream ... this is a car I still race today . It is a flat six , mechanically injected (off one of the cams) twin turbo, air cooled and makes 800HP and is only 3.2 liters.. which I believe is less than 200 cubic inches . This motor powered this car to 8th over all in the 1981 24 hours of Daytona, yep 24 hours at speeds on each lap in excess of 200 MPH ... this car also placed 2nd in class at the Le Mans 24 hour when it was a single turbo car in 1976 ... old school , still gets it on

Oh , the car lives at Sears Point/Infineon ... so we took it out on grudge night just for fun. And though it is obviously not set up for the 1/4 mile it still ran a mid 10 :)

Just noticed this section in the forums today, how funny, worlds cross - I knew you had Camaros from the Bird Board posts with the Porsches but I clicked on your link and it says hometown is closed... do you have some pix of your Camaros?

hey Tim....AOL took down the web pages a while ago .
Well my influences came from my father . Corvettes were the car of choice through the 70's with lots of early 65-69 BB Vettes and then in 1970 the Porsche 911S arrived and it was common for my father to have both American and German Muscle . So that is why you see me on Pelican doing my Porsche thing and then on this site and the first gen sites....

My 1969 Numbers matching COPO just out of paint

I also have four 1969 Z28s but my driver is an old hot rod that I put the original drive train aside and put in a 427 SB roller motor , TKO 600, Custom interior , Vintage AIR , upgraded 4 wheel discs.. just nice cruiser

Beautiful cars!

Why do you have 4 inlets into the intercooler? Is this originally from the 70's?
