EFI and Tanks

I think the Rick's tank is gonna be out of my budget in the short term, so looking like I'll pick up a Spectra tank and use the FAST efi pump with the stock tank.

Wondering if I should cut a hole in the bottom of the tank and weld on a sump of some kind or cut a hole in the top of the tank and weld in a baffle?

Also, I'm not sure about putting the pump inside the tank. What are the risks of running wires into a gas tank? Never sounds good to wire electrical with gasoline vapors... :wow:

What are you putting the tank in? I put one of the Spectra tanks in my 70 Chevelle. Bolts right in. They already come with a pump installed. From memory I think that pump will support 400-450hp. Unless you're running more than that just wire it up. It already has a connector installed on the harness. If you need more pump (this is what I did) I ordered a new Walbro and installed it. There is also a baffle/sump built into the tank. No problems. If you are going to go with this tank I'd just leave the pump in there. As for the gas and electricy thing, all modern tanks are built this way. Any pump you put in there, as long as it's correctly wired, will work.
