non mini tub backspacing?
trying to decide what backspacing is needed for a 9-9.5" rear wheel on a 1968 pontiac firebird with stock wheel wells in the rear. I believe the pontiac 8.2 firebird rearends were also 1" wider than the camaro. anybody even run 9-9.5" rear on their camaro without tubbing?

Yes you can fit a 9.5 and a 275 tire no problem, but we need to measure your rear then we can do the backspacing.
Measure mounting hub to mounting hub (brake drum / rotor to brake drum / rotor) and let me know |
just pm'd you, but i just measured 61 1/4"
|
So it is 1" wider, so you need a 6" BS on a 9.5. What kind of wheels are you looking at?
|
intro 5 spoke possibly, and will that 6" stick out past the rear quarter?
|
You better triple verify the BS with them and get it signed!

I can let you know Monday or Tuesday about the backspacing because I also have a 68 Firebird with stock rear and want to put 275's on the back. I ordered some wheels with 17x9.5 with 5.75 BS and they are supposed to arrive Monday. I also got 17x8 with 4.0 for the front and want to run 245's . I want to mount them both before I order the tire to make sure what will fit. Jason

Jason, your in trouble on the fronts for sure, and maybe on the rear also. On a 8" front you need a 4.75 backspace |
ProdigyCustoms, I wish I would have known that before I ordered, I even had a wheelrite to show me the fit.....sigh....you were right.
Well my choices are (for the front) 8 with 4.5 BS or 7 with 3.5 BS , the backs are perfect. Jason if at first you don't succeed spend more money |
