Prodigy Customs Is Hiring One Person For The Shop!
 

It is hard to imagine in this economy, but we need to add a person to the shop. We have never been more busy, and projects are continuing to come in from all over the country. Projects are breeding like rabbits! And we have a huge inventory of cool projects and cool owners.

Our crew has been together with for 5 years, they are basically family, so I need the right "fit". I need a all around guy, even a semi experienced apprentice, to work with Michael assembling cars. You will be doing installs like subframe upgrades, swaps, 4 links. Wiring (must know your **** on wiring and do clean work or be willing to take step by step instruction), glass installs (Michael can train), Brake installs, Basically general mechanical and assembly. Not worried about you being able to weld or fabricate, you won't be doing any of that.

Understand you will be VERY closely watched and monitored, almost mother hened, at least early on. I protect our reputation with everything in my sole. You will do it our way and it will be the right way.

You only need your own hand tools, no specialty tools required.

You will work closely with Michael and may very well be "his hands" on one project while he is working on another project. We do not expect you to be, or want you to be a Camaro or Pro Touring expert. We would much rather you learn from us. I run the business, but Michael runs the shop and is 22 years old. So you either need to be young or have the ability to respect the talents of a 22 year old which is telling you what to do next. Most older guys cannot respect a very young boss no matter how talented the boss!

You need to be straight, PERIOD! No druggies or drunks. You need to be reliable and dedicated. And you need to WANT to do this and be willing to step up when the schedule requires. I will consider a part time student IF your school schedule will allow you to work at least 30 hours a week WITHOUT interfering with your school. One of our guys is a student and we do work weekends so he can get his hours.

In return, you will make good money and build some of the coolest Pro Touring cars on the planet from a respected shop.

Dang man, I'd be all over this if I wasn't still working in Iraq. I've always wanted to work at a shop like yours and even wondered if you'd need a guy some day. I'm 25, master certified tech, and took the automotive/chassis fab course at Wyotech. Maybe when I come back from Iraq in another year or two you might need some body

If only you guys were in MN I'd be all over this. From everything I've heard/read about Frank and his company anyone should be greatful for the chance to work there.Even though I'm twice his age I would never have any problem taking orders from a boss. Again if I was in Florida you would already have my resume.

Man. I'm in Fort Lauderdale. Can I come up for a week vacation and work for free.

I'd be happy if I was just allowed to sweep floors if that allowed me to get some exposure to the shop.

Frank I have had pretty good luck with some Wyotech grads. You have to hunt for the right ones. I got to know the staff and they refer the good ones. Plus look for the ones with perfect attendance in the "street rod segment", They can only work on their own projects if they have perfect attendance.

Look for the ones with passion and make them show you their passion. I also only contact the resumes from the guys who follow up with me in email or phone after sending the resume. This process and rewarded me well.

Wyotech can also put you on a list to start getting applications.

Make them work in the shop for a week or 2 before you hire them. You can weed out 75% of the slacker ididots that way. I pay them and provide lodging and if they don't work out no harm no fowl.

Thanks Rodger, That is kind of what I am looking for. I have trained 3 young guys now that are really good car builders. So I am not affraid to train a young guy.

I am talking to 2 people right now. One is a young guy that actually offered to pay to come to work a year ago, he is pretty serious.

On the other end of the spectrum, I am also talking to a pretty well known guy from the industry right now to that can build cars and help in other ways also. But there is a big move involved, $$$, amoung other things.

Like you said, I have a extended stay place for whomever, there is a "feeling out period" before any major comitment.

I may hire both these guys.

But still looking to hear from others also.

OK, so I have 2 guys coming in next week for 2 week trial periods. one is a young member on the forum that REALLY wants to work here, from tennesse, the other a local guy that really seems like he knows his stuff.

Lets see how it goes, and for now hold off on the resumes. My box is full, LOL!
