Any one here attend UTI school?

I have an interview on Wednesday with someone at the UTI Norwood, Mass. campus. (they screen the individuals before they go any further.) I am looking to take the automotive repair classes. Has anyone had experience with a UTI school and how was it?
THANKS!!

There was recently a thread on one of the forums about them. Seems it's very expensive. Do your due diligence.

Thanks Todd.
I did do a search but only 2 hits came up on it here. Unemployment will be paying the tuition. Like I said, I have an interview with someone on Wednesday morning and will find out all the info and do a school tour then. Also talk to someone in the financial department about all that good stuff.

I went in 1994. Expensive, but it build contacts you could not get else where. It sure helps on the resume, but the right attitude and the willingness to learn goes a lot further. You get what you put into it. Tech schools only teach the basics.

The commercials lie.

My employee went to UTI and he is great. He does all my engine work and assembly. He also does some small fab work. He say's that it was a great program and that you have to want to learn to make it worthwhile. Once I get settled into my new shop I am thinking about giving them a call to see if they have anyone else. If you have any questions about the program let me know and maybe he could answer some of them. Thanks, Jon.

I could never afford it but know if I could you would have to kick me out to get me to leave!!! There is alot of knowledge there along with your willingness to learn could become a great thing so no skipping class, going in hung over etc you have a chance here most people would love to have if you get accept. Best of luck to you though!!!

Thanks for the replies guys. I really appreciate them.
I will put 110% into these classes. I am a car guy and a hard worker, so I will be all over it. PLUS, this will be a future career for me as well. (who knows, maybe I'll be building someone's car that belongs to this site. OR, better yet, be working for one of the premier shops that are featured here on lateral-g.net?)
Again, thanks for the replies.:lateral:

Had the interview with 1 of the school administrators today.
I was there for 2 hours!! A long interview process and and then a tour of the place. (He then passes my enrollment onto the board that also reviews my background/info/interest.) This school is HUGE!!! And EXPENSIVE!! Classes are 6 hours a day, MON-FRI.
I was pretty impressed.

I went to UTI in phx, about 8 yrs ago and I was not impressed, but I did have a pretty extensive mechanical background before I went in,(let me clarify that a little, I grew up on a small family farm and we fixed all of our own equipment and vehicles etc...) so there was only a few things in each class that I picked up on. But if you are realatively new to the whole mechanical deal you may be a prime candadate for uti. My only reason for attending uti was to get to their BMW graduate program which I will say made the whole deal worth it, I learned an unbelievable amount of info in 6.5months, and got me a pretty cool career.

But having said that, when I was in the BMW program there was a student from the boston area that had attended New England Tech and he had also had a pretty good mech. background before school and he spoke highly of new england tech. so I see you are in Mass. so you may want to check them out as well.

I did a google search and came up with the following website

hope this helps

I went to UTI in 2006. There is alot of crap talked about it but i thought it was great, lots of great info, (if you soak it in) . I met a couple great friends going there and had a ton of fun. I mean you are surrounded by a school of dudes that dig cars as much as you do! lol It is pretty expensive though and i have to say i probably wouldnt have gone if i had to pay for it. I got a full ride scholarship from Ford and AAA from winning 1st place in a state auto competition.
