4L80e transmission question

Can anyone tell me if the 4L80E will fit under my 1st gen (68) Camaro without modifying the tunnel? I know that some of the newer transmissions require modification to the tunnel, just not sure which ones...Please let me know..Thanks:hail:

It fit my 69 with the stock centered (small block) frame mounts. Very snug, but definitely fit without cutting or any hammer work. With the big block offset frame pads it'd probably need some massaging on the passenger side for clearance.

Massaging, if any is as simple as heating up the area with a propane torch and tweaking with a hammer. A few love taps is all that is usually required. Stock subframes usually do not require mods. Aftermarket subs usually raise the engine a bit to make steering rack clearance. In that case, the tunnel might need tweaking right where it meets the firewall. We have a big block/4L80E/stock clip car with no tweaking.

Same here! Don't worry, it's tight but it'll fit.

I am using the Heidts front sub frame ...do you know if I will have to modify the tunnel or will it fit??

Sorry, we have not tried a Heidt's clip. You will need to contact them directly. Ask if they have raised the motor mount position to compensate for steering rack to engine (harmonic damper) clearance.
