BMR's new Watts Link for 1st Gen Camaro
 

Anybody have any opinions on BMR's new Watts Link for the 1st Gen Camaro? It's installation is photo-documented fairly well by www.superchevy.com here:

As is normal with a lot of TV shows and magazine articles, they left me puzzled with part of the implementation. They mention the following:

"The first order of business was to get the exhaust system out of the way. The tailpipe on the exhaust will need to be modified so it doesn't interfere with the Watt's link."

Well, they never ended up 'modifying the tailpipes' in the article, and I'm guessing there's a good reason for that. I'm looking at the final install photos:

Anybody have any ideas how you're suppose to route tailpipes through that? It's interesting that in their final notes about 'all that's left to do after the install' that they don't bother to mention putting the tail pipes back on.

Agreed. It's a bit of a mess under there. Maybe because it's red and it really stands out. If they did a black powder-coat, it might not look so bad.

Maybe I missed it... but how do you set pinion angle with that setup?

I am guessing by the way the torque arm bolts the the third member that girdle is adjustable via shims in the 4 bolt attach points. Only way it could be adjustable.

I'd like to see how tail pipes are routed, and I'm sure if you ordered it in black would look 100x better

This product is available in black hammertone or red. The black hammertone is a textured powdercoat and it closely resembles a graphite color. It is different than a gloss black. BMR Fabrication is the only suspension company that offers this color. You can see some examples of BMR product in the black hammertone color at our website www.bmrfabrication.com

We shoot all of our magazine articles with red product. The black hammertone parts blend in with the undercarriage too much and then it's very difficult to see any detail.

Really intresting new product. A lot less work than with other Watt link systems.

Routing the tailpipes is the biggest problem with our design. You need to build a custom exhaust since no exhaust manufacturer currently makes a tailpipe that will fit.

It's possible to get a dual 3" exhaust through there. We installed 2-1/2" exhaust on our shop car and there was enough room for 3" pipes.

The 12-bolt version of our Torque Arm Suspension has a jack screw between the torque arm and rear axle housing. The pinion angle can be adjusted either way with the turn of a wrench.:thumbsup:
