LS_ ? Can somebody help me pick a motor for my pro touring 70 nova
Alright, so im trying to come up with a game plan for my 1970 nova that im bringing into the pro-touring realm. I know i want to go with an LS based engine but i dont know if i have the budget for it. I love the new LS3 with a hotcam making close to 500hp, but at 7000 dollars that might be a little steep, although a great deal for an LS and 500hp. I was thinking about going used and was curious if anyone out here knew where to find a good deal on a used ls1, ls2, etc and also what all i would need to get the motor ready to run (ex. harness, etc). Im also planning and running a t-56. So any suggestions with that would be great too.
THANKS GUYS Jeff |
Does your budget include headers, accessories, ECM, harness, fuel system, etc?

You have PM.

I definitiely overlooked headers in the the whole scheme of this but that budget im laying down is around 6 grand or so. and that was not including the fuel system. Im planning on saving a bit more for that later (not plannign on running the motor right away). I was hoping to be able to find an ecm within my price constraints. and accessories im not really sure on. I mean if this budget sounds too tight to work with, im open to criticisms too and im in no hurry so i can wait and save and make sure this gets done right!

Sweet choice of eng for your car check ebay, ls1tech or ls2. I am doing the same thing but I have my motor and tranny already. I think frank from Proidgy has some motor left. Also look into a truck block just to get you started then you can always sell that to get an alumnium(sp?) one. hope that helps

Here might be a way to go. A very rough 6.0 2000 Chevy truck but it runs. You also have a core of a 4L80e that you could use or sell to recoup some money. Truck has 244K but I don't know if the motor was ever replaced or not. I would go through everything but you have motor, computer, harness ect and lots of parts to sell off.
