I'm going to be that guy. You never....ever....ever...buy a classic car without putting your eyes or someone you trusts eyes on a car.

Hey Gear, I hope it gets resolved for you. Very sorry to hear you got screwed over and thanks for the heads up about the P O S that sold you the car. Good luck, and glad you and the wife are safe.

I bet Jeff Schwartz could put a hell of a frame underneath it. That would at least be going in the right direction.
|
WOW! was that a piece of PCV pipe running down that frame rail?
|
This is not me just sharing with you guys. I agree the guy should have looked at it but that goes way past differing opinions of a cars condition.

I can't even remember how many times I've seen and heard of this happening. I have had several cars dropped-off at the shop that were along these lines. I had one customer buy a car that was advertised by the seller as "Ready to paint". After I removed all of the Duraglass, rivets, and seam sealer, his "ready to paint" car needed a new firewall, full floor, rocker work, A-pillar repair, roof repair, quarter repair, etc, etc. His car was so bad that unibody sections were not even attached anymore. Todd is absolutely right. If you can't look at it yourself, pay someone you trust to do so. It will save you tons of time and $$$ in the end.
I wish you the best and hope this ends positively for you. |
WE had a guy bring a 69 Camaro Convertable by the shop for us to have a look at and do a quot for the insurance company, when the transporter was delivering the car it rolled off the top deck and landed on the rear tail pan!!!! and totally F'ed up the back of the car, ok e bought the car off ebay for 25,000.00 ............ first mistake! didn't go look at the car, second mistake!!!
it was a 6 cylinder, Third mistake!!!! and the car was absolutly JUNK!!! there was NOTHING good about it!!! 25K why don't people buy a 400.00 plane ticket and go look at the car??? i don't get it |
I would NEVER part with my hard earned money without seeing in person what I was getting. Like Ronald Reagan always said, "Trust but verify".
