Is there "Better" EFI Intake than MiniRAM?
I got ahold of a Gen 1 small block with an unused TPiS MiniRam on it, I read around and it seems pretty good,
haven't ran it yet and trying to decide to keep it or buy/trade it for something different anyone used it then something that was worth the time / $ to swap??? What the BEST EFI intake for Gen 1 small block? |
It's a good intake for the right application. Which is my next question, what is your application? Engine size, cam specs, head information etc.
I've used them on 355, 383 and 406 applications with good performance and drivability results. I've has similar engines (383) one had the Miniram and the other had Edelbrock TPI system. The Miniram was about 2-3mph faster in quarter mile (12.40's). The Edelbrock did offer some additional midrange power as felt by the "seat of our pants" |
TPI will make a good street manifold. I believe that they max out aroud 400-500 i think.. just my .02

It's good but...
The Mini Ram is good, but i think the Holley Stealth Ram is considered a bit better for most applications. Here is a good post from another forum, someone who has supposedly tested all four TPI-esque intakes on the same engine:
http://forums.hybridz.org/showthread.php?t=67411 Other places have published similar results. Here is another site with the flow numbers: http://www.stealthram.com/flowcomparison.html Again it does depend on displacement, cam, and intended use. For 350 to 383 sbc with moderate cam, the Stealth Ram will have the same top end and better bottom end torque. For larger displacement and/or really big cam, the TPIS unit might be the better one. However, if you already have it, i'm sure it'll work very well, especially on a 383. Good luck! Paul |
What Paul said. If you have it, use it as it is a good manifold. Unless of course you want to build something crazy
|
well, it's a 406 ci
so maybe the MiniRam will be OK? |
Absolutely! A friend has one on top a 409 SBC. I want to say 500+ at the wheels. It's been a while and the car is drag only and trailered. He's basically lost interest in the car. It runs mid to low 10s now but needs some suspension changes to launch better. Is easily capable of 9s so the power is there. You'll be fine so long as you get the cam, heads, and intake all working together. Bigger is not always better.

anyone else?
Will be dynoing my combo, but looking for another manifold... |
