Difference in First Gen Camaro center console

I'm putting a 700r4 in the wife's 67 Camaro and I have a horseshoe shifter from a 69. Will it work in a 67 with a stock console? I have the center console shifter plate for a 4 speed manual. Can I just swap in a horshoe shifter plate for a 68?
